Sarah Smith (42) is a British mother of two who was suffering from constant migraines. Nothing helped, so her doctor suggested she stops taking caffeine and instead to increase her water intake. The picture on the left shows Sarah as an average 42 year old. The picture on the right shows her as a woman in her low to mid thirties. Sarah now claims that nothing but water is the essential key and fountain of human’s youth. The amount of water she drank drastically changed her appearance. She would have usually started her day with a cup of tea, then have a glass of water with her lunch and one with dinner. That is about one litre of liquid in 24 hours. It feels that is a lot, but apparently it is not nearly enough. Sarah read a survey that said that one in five women usually consumes less than the recommended amount of water (usually they forget or are too busy to have a glass of water). This is what led to her experiment.
The photo on the left was taken the day she started the trial. It clearly indicates what dehydration can do to a face. She looked at least ten years older in the left picture. There are dark shadows under and around her eyes, which made me look exhausted.
Most of our body functions and systems depend on water. Water helps in the nutrition transport to the cells, flashes out toxins from our vital organs, eliminates waste and ensures a moist environment for our nose, ear and throat tissues. Not drinking enough water impairs most of these functions.
1 After one week : Sarah Smith – Waist 28in, Weight 8st 7lb
After one week of regular drinking of three liters per day Sarah inquired from her local GP on whether taking all that water will affect her health. She suggest everyone one big jug of water in the morning, then another in the afternoon and another in the evening. The kidneys which filter waste products from the blood before turning it to urine, will quickly feel the benefit, as they will be getting a good flush through. Sarah’s migraines began to go away and her flexibility improved. Water also helps lubricate joints.
2 Week Two: Sarah Smith – Waist 28in, Weight 8st 6lb
She lost half a kilo. Sounds like nothing, but it is something actually. Her complexion improved and her skin tone became more even. She still had her wrinkles under her eyes, but they appeared less scary and shadowy than before. She also had stopped having headaches.
Human’s brain is 73 percent water, so poor hydration can affect how it functions. Dehydration can reduce the ability to concentrate as well as our cognitive performance.
3 Week Three – Sarah Smith – Waist 27.5in, Weight 8st 6lb
She lost 3 cm on her waist. Sarah stopped rubbing her eyes in the morning, which meant the extra water was keeping them moist. She ate less because water made her feel fuller. Studies show that 37% of people usually mistake being thirsty for hunger. One glass of water before your meal will help you eat less than necessary.
4 Week Four- Sarah Smith – Waist 27in, Weight 8st 5lb
She lost another 500 grams and 1.5 cm on the waist. She said she wasn’t able to believe the difference on her face. The dark shadows around her eyes disappeared and the blotches were gone. She claims that her skin was as soft and as fresh as when she was a child. That’s the difference drinking lots of water can bring to your life. “I feel fitter, leaner and healthier, and my husband and friends tell me I look ten years younger. Who in their right mind would not want to try something which gets such incredible results?” she says.
